“As the result of a successful letter writing campaign, NASA named the initial flight-test Space Shuttle Enterprise. In 1994, the real aircraft carrier Enterprise hosted a Star Trek convention, and Star Trek memorabilia can be found throughout the ship.”
Hmm, so aren’t we about ready to build the next Enterprise?
What should be the official Registry number on the Gen1 Enterprise? Perhaps it can be NC-1700 being that this would indicate it is one ship earlier than NC-1701. What do you think?
So we build the first Enterprise in the spirit of Star Trek. But what about incorporating some of the cultural themes into the on-board culture for those on the Enterprise? How could this be done? What is there to be learned from Star Trek that visitors to the Gen1 Enterprise might become immersed in upon arrival? Surely there is something to be learned from, say, Mr. Spock for example.
It will be nice when there are two Enterprises. Then typically one can be in earth’s orbit while the other is off on a mission. This helps with the problem of private business booming when the Enterprise is in orbit and then having revenue problems when no Enterprise is around for a couple of years. Things are too uneven with just one Enterprise.
Could an open source Gen1 USS Enterprise be created in cyberspace at least to some extent? Compare to an open source automobile being developed.
